Taking it off.....
Well, I got rolling on the project again this past weekend. I made it a point to work on the truck this past Sunday. I worked all day Saturday on the house so Sunday was the day to go to my house of prayer (the garage) and raise the body of the truck to the heavens (only temporarily)
Hmmm......looks kinda cool up in the air like that....maybe I'll find a Dana 44 and.....
I managed to get the body high enough to roll the frame out and into the garage. It's been about a year and a half since I got the body up on the frame and it was kinda nice to seperate the two again. I've been itchin to do some framework.
Now this is more like it. Only about a foot off the ground. I can't wait to lay the truck out on those rockers!!!
Well, here it is, the frame in all it's glory.
After doing alot of thinking I have decided to redo the entire frame with new 2"x5" steel tubing. Eventually you'll see why. This lead me to an interesting realization though today. The only thing that will be on the finished truck from the original truck will be the hood. Well, that's the price you pay when you build custom vehicles. Well, at least I have a title!
Hopefully this week I can start building the frame table. I'll be using the original frame to get hub placements and body mount locations, then hopefully I'll be able to start fabricating the frame.
My new welder came in two weeks ago.
If you're in the market for welders, plasma cutters, or accessories, check out IOC Welding Supply's EBAY Store. Great prices and service. I ordered the welder on a Friday, and Monday morning (The Next Business Day!!!) the trucking company called to say it was ready for delivery the next day or it could be picked up that afternoon. Great service!!!
I'm in the middle of remodeling my new office that will become my homebase for project updates as well as contemplating a change of employers here in the next few days so whenever work resumes on the truck I'll keep you posted. I've approved the second draft of the renderings and hopefully by the end of the week the final renderings will be in. I'll post them up when I get them.
Till next time, "If you ain't innovatin' you're imitatin'"
