Rendering

Jon over at Kutting Edge Graphix finished the renderings for Project Nvrmade and they turned out GREAT! Let me know what you think. The renderings also reveal the addition to the project, my 1963 Shasta 16' travel trailer I picker up from a neighbor about two years ago. It will make a nice hangout while at shows, especially the out of town ones! I can't wait to see the look on the grandmas and grampas faces as I drag into the campground with this duo!!! Check it out!

Robbie at Kutting Edge Graphix is working on the new site design and hopefully the new site will be up and running soon.

I had a recent employment change (left FNF and went back to work at J. Banicki Cosntruction) and so I haven't worked on the project much in the last month as I get resettled and back into superbusy mode. I've been remodeling one of my rooms in the house into a new office so I can move the old office over there and be more organized when I start with the progress editorials on the project. Hopefully I should have everthing moved over by next weekend and will probably get working ont he truck again by the end of the month. Plans are to build a frame table and start fabbing up the new frame for the truck. I'll keep you updated. Until then, don't gforget it's National Sawzall month so get out to your garage and cut something up bitch!! I know I plan on it!!!

Taking it off.....

Well, I got rolling on the project again this past weekend. I made it a point to work on the truck this past Sunday. I worked all day Saturday on the house so Sunday was the day to go to my house of prayer (the garage) and raise the body of the truck to the heavens (only temporarily)

Hmmm......looks kinda cool up in the air like that....maybe I'll find a Dana 44 and.....

I managed to get the body high enough to roll the frame out and into the garage. It's been about a year and a half since I got the body up on the frame and it was kinda nice to seperate the two again. I've been itchin to do some framework.

Now this is more like it. Only about a foot off the ground. I can't wait to lay the truck out on those rockers!!!

Well, here it is, the frame in all it's glory.

After doing alot of thinking I have decided to redo the entire frame with new 2"x5" steel tubing. Eventually you'll see why. This lead me to an interesting realization though today. The only thing that will be on the finished truck from the original truck will be the hood. Well, that's the price you pay when you build custom vehicles. Well, at least I have a title!

Hopefully this week I can start building the frame table. I'll be using the original frame to get hub placements and body mount locations, then hopefully I'll be able to start fabricating the frame.

My new welder came in two weeks ago.

If you're in the market for welders, plasma cutters, or accessories, check out IOC Welding Supply's EBAY Store. Great prices and service. I ordered the welder on a Friday, and Monday morning (The Next Business Day!!!) the trucking company called to say it was ready for delivery the next day or it could be picked up that afternoon. Great service!!!

I'm in the middle of remodeling my new office that will become my homebase for project updates as well as contemplating a change of employers here in the next few days so whenever work resumes on the truck I'll keep you posted. I've approved the second draft of the renderings and hopefully by the end of the week the final renderings will be in. I'll post them up when I get them.

Till next time, "If you ain't innovatin' you're imitatin'"

Movin' on up.....to the East side....

Things are starting to roll!! www.nvrmade.com went into existance today. Talks with a well known rendering company are in the works to do vehicle renderings and website graphics. The shop is getting VERY close to completion. I am projecting that the website will go live April 6th, seven weeks from now. (This also happens to be my birthday.....happy birthday to me!) This blog will eventually move over to the project site, but links will be left up here for a while after the move.

Anyone see those boxes I had layin' around here? I gotta get packing. Seven weeks will be here in no time!!!!

NvrMade's current home on the web

Well, for now this will be where I update the world on the progress of NvrMade.

What's NvrMade?

NvrMade is a 1976 Ford Excursion. Yup. Excursion. "But they never made and Excursion is 1976!!" That's right. They didn't. But I am. That's why it's called NvrMade. FORD "nvr made" one.

Why is it an Excursion? Why not an Expedition?

NvrMade is based on a Ford F-250 3/4 ton chassis. The rear end being used in the project is a Dana 70 dually. The Ford Excursion is based on the Ford Superduty (3/4 Ton & up) chassis. Therefore, if Ford ever made this truck in 1976, it would have been an Excursion.

Where the F*ck did you get the idea for this?

I picked up the F-250 back in October of 2000 down in Tucson, AZ. It was an old farm truck that was for sale down the street from me that I thought would make a great work truck some day. The thing had gobs of power with its 390 mated to a four speed. After returning to Phoenix in January of 2001, I drove it for four months before my employer gave me a '96 Bronco to drive as a company truck. I parked the F-250 for over a year. In the meantime I ran across a picture of a four door bronco from the same era of my truck. It looked pretty badass. Check it out. Picador The more I thought about it the more I looked into building something like this. I made measurements with my frame and the frame from a standard cab longbed ends up being perfect with some of the bodymods I am doing. A "Stock" four door bronco would require moving the axle back about two inches on this frame. You'll see why later I won't have to do this mod. While auiring the Bronco and crew cab parts needed, I came across a Dana 70 dually rear end and got the idea to add it into the mix. Now, every four door conversion I've seen is a 4x4. I like 4x4's, but I also like to be original. An innovator. So mine's getting slammed. Laying frame and body on 19" rims. Maybe 22" if I can figure out how to fit 32" of tire in a truck that will have a roofline 48" off the ground.

That's Insane.

That's why I'm doing it. Go big or go home right? Remember, I'm the one that was customizing a Ford Escort in the late 90's when everyone else was doing Civics. Now look, people are customizing everything from Maximas to Scion whatever-they-ares.

When's it going to be done?

Well, the projected major milestones are Novemberfest 2005 for the finished frame, and SEMA 2006 for stage one completion. Stage two completion should give NvrMade some modifications for the SEMA 2007 show while the next project is being built in the NvrBuild Chop Shop.

When is the real project website going to debut?

Hopefully the end of March 2005. NvrMade Chop Shop (my garage) is almost complete and design will begin on the website within the next few weeks. Vehicle renderings should be released in late February. Sponsorship portfolios will be ready once the website is up and running smoothly, probably late April.

Can I get updates about NvrMade?

Yup. Just click here.
